Hi, I’m Allie.

My story

I have a B.S. in Graphic Design from Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.

I worked as a full-time graphic designer for 9 years, where I designed cookbooks and art directed photography. In 2022, I left to take care of my kids full-time. At first, I took on some freelance opportunities in my spare time, but in 2024, I finally started focusing on being creative through a sketchbook habit. I realized that even though I’ve had a lot of art training, I had never actually kept a consistent sketchbook. My few sketchbooks in the past had always been for a class or for a specific project—and most of the time, I would simply brainstorm a tiny bit for something I’d keep experimenting with later on my computer, but never really push and play on paper. I realized I had been letting the fear of making ugly work hold me back for my entire career at that point, and now I am determined to change that!

So here I am, drawing just for fun, not letting the fear of “well, this isn’t what I had in mind…” hold me back. I am definitely going to have a lot of art I don’t like, but I am hoping to have at least something that I like about each piece or something I’ve learned through the process. If you’re here to follow along, welcome!

I enjoy playing with mixed media

My current favorite materials are: colored pencils, Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors, Caran d’Ache Neocolor IIs, pen and ink, and brush pens.

My favorite subjects to draw are animals and nature. I absolutely love the beach, so beach scenes are a particular favorite.

One of my biggest goals is to one day write and illustrate a children’s book. I have a few ideas up my sleeve, so hopefully with some time and dedication, I can make my dream a reality!
